We’ll also be radically improving our product for our core customer base. In the UK, we now have over 1.6 million registered users, and we offer a range of products such as the Freetrade Pension, a stocks and shares ISA, and UK Treasury bills.

As Chief Marketing Officer at Freetrade, you will be responsible for owning and driving the company’s marketing strategy and execution to fuel growth, build brand equity, and increase customer engagement.

You will define and lead innovative campaigns that position Freetrade as the go-to investment platform while leveraging data-driven insights to deliver measurable results. This is a senior leadership role that requires a strategic mindset, creative vision, and a deep understanding of customer behaviour and acquisition channels.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Strategy

• Lead and inspire our London office-based marketing team to deliver high-impact marketing campaigns.
• Develop and execute a comprehensive marketing strategy aligned with Freetrade’s business goals, focusing on customer acquisition, retention, and profitability.
• Collaborate closely with the executive team to position Freetrade as a leader in the investment platform space.

Brand & Creative Leadership

• Build and evolve the Freetrade brand, ensuring consistency across all customer touchpoints.
• Lead the development of compelling narratives and creative assets that resonate with our target audience and differentiate Freetrade in a competitive market.
• Partner with product and design teams to ensure a seamless and customer-centric experience.

Customer Acquisition & Growth

• Oversee the planning and execution of data-driven performance marketing campaigns across all channels, including digital, social, and partnerships.
• Identify and optimize new growth opportunities, ensuring an agile approach to testing and scaling initiatives.
• Own the customer funnel, ensuring continuous improvement in conversion rates, engagement, and lifetime value.

Data-Driven Marketing

• Establish robust marketing analytics practices, work with our Data team to establish attribution, measure effectiveness, refine strategies, and allocate budgets efficiently.
• Refine KPIs to monitor performance across all marketing initiatives and report progress to the executive team and board.

Team Development

• Build and mentor an already high-performing marketing team, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and excellence.
• Equip the team with the tools, training, and insights needed to excel in their roles.
• Develop subject matter expertise within the team, ensuring deep knowledge of channels, markets, the investing domain, and customer behaviour.

Requirements

• A leader with top-class academics and the intellectual horsepower to drive meaningful change. MBA is a plus.
• Proven experience as a senior marketing leader, preferably as a CMO or VP of Marketing in a fast-paced, growth-focused organisation (fintech or consumer technology is a strong plus).
• Exceptional understanding of brand building, performance marketing, and customer acquisition.
• Track record of delivering measurable growth through innovative and data-driven marketing strategies.
• Deep expertise in digital marketing channels, analytics, and customer segmentation.
• Strong leadership and team development skills, with experience managing distributed teams.
• Outstanding communication skills with the ability to inspire teams and align stakeholders.
• Entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for driving change and delivering results.
• Someone who challenges the status quo and isn’t satisfied with mediocrity.

What we don’t require

• We don’t require extensive industry experience in financial services or brokerage, although experience or a deep interest in investing are a strong plus. We can teach and onboard the right candidate who is willing to learn our industry.
• Domain knowledge: We prefer someone who can lead strategy, change, and build processes, leaning on the expertise of subject matter experts where needed.

Salary: £150,000 + /annum
