Job description

Maintenance and repair of production machines. Will be expected to be able to Install, dismantle, repair, identify faults, reassemble, service and move machinery.

Responsibilities

  • Repair and set up equipment for operators, either mechanically or by programming.
  • Respond to sudden breakdowns during production. Disassemble machinery and equipment when there is a problem.
  • Detect minor problems by performing basic diagnostic tests. Replace broken or malfunctioning components
  • Help to develop & implement preventative and predictive maintenance, help to diagnose problems quickly and make necessary repairs for all machinery
  • Assemble and test machinery to make sure it is safe and operational before placing back into production
  • Carry out all scheduled maintenance
  • Clean, oil and grease machinery
  • Study manufacturers’ manuals to determine correct installation and operation of machinery
  • Help to control & record parts and materials used and advise manager of new parts and materials required as necessary.
  • Help to implement 5’s project within Maintenance department ensuring a more organised and efficient department
  • Ensure good working relationships are maintained with colleagues
  • Adhere to all Health & Safety regulations at all times
  • Ensure that company policies are adhered to at all times within the department. This includes the Equal Opportunities policy, Harassment policy, Health & Safety policy and Training policy.
  • Any other reasonable duties requested

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Proven experience as mechanic - Level 3 mechanic qualification
  • Excellent knowledge of machinery and hydraulic, electrical and other systems and their components
  • Ability to handle various tools and heavy equipment
  • A strong commitment to all health & safety guidelines
  • A clean driver’s licence and access to a car for daily business use
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to ask clarifying questions and provide accurate information
  • Well organised and goal orientated

Desirable Skills

  • Degree in engineering or manufacturing
  • Previous experience in a similar role
  • Experience of maintaining hydraulic equipment and electrical systems.

Further Information

Salary - £12.82p/h for first 13 weeks training
