Responsibilities
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
- Must be able to lift, turn, move, position, and transport residents, alone or with assistance.
- Observe residents’ conditions, measuring/recording food/liquid intake and output as well as vital signs, then report changes to professional staff as applicable.
- Collect specimens such as urine, feces, or sputum.
- Must be able to explain medical instructions to residents and family members.
- Work as part of a medical team that examines and provides service to residents.
- Administer medications and treatments, such as catheterizations, suppositories, irrigations, enemas, massages, and douches, as directed by a physician or nurse.
- Answer residents’ call lights.
- Provide residents with help walking, exercising, and moving in and out of bed.
- Must be able to assist residents with baths, showers, personal grooming, feeding, and toiletry.
- Transport residents to treatment units, using a wheelchair or stretcher.
- Must be able to assist in the evacuation of residents.
- Restrain residents if necessary.
- Prepare, serve, and collect food trays.
- Clean rooms and change linens as instructed.
- Deliver messages, documents and specimens.
- Answer phones and direct visitors as needed.
- Maintain inventory by storing, preparing, sterilizing, and issuing supplies such as dressing packs and treatment trays.
- Perform clerical duties such as processing documents and detailing residents’ condition.
- Provide personal hygiene assistance for elderly patients or those recovering from surgeries, injuries or accidents by attending to their basic needs, such as showering, bathing, dressing and eating.
Qualifications
- Enjoy working in a one-on-one setting, eager to improve and continuously learn new skills.
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with physical capability to perform job-related duties.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation every single day.
- Validated ability to act in a compassionate and supportive manner.
- Available to work different shifts, including nights and/or weekends.
- Prior experience in a healthcare, hospitality, or in-home care environment (minimum of 1 year)
- Willingness to enforce health and safety standards.
- Supportive and compassionate.
- High School Diploma or equivalent/Experience as a CNA, or completion of a CNA Program
- Licensed to work in the state of Virginia.
- Take pride in providing high quality care.
- Hoyer Lift Experience (specific to client)
