Position Overview: Family Law Attorney (Fully Remote, U.S. Applicants Only) Are you a skilled Family Law Attorney who thrives on the strategic and advisory side of legal practice? If you enjoy drafting, negotiation, and client consultation—but prefer to avoid courtroom litigation—this fully remote position could be the perfect fit for you.
We are seeking an attorney with experience in family law matters such as divorce, custody, spousal support, and domestic violence. This role focuses on legal research, drafting, and client consultation, with no litigation or trial work. To be successful in this role, you must be admitted to a state bar and commit to obtaining Maryland Bar admission within 12 months of employment. What You’ll Do:
- Draft and strategize: Prepare high-quality pleadings, motions, briefs, and correspondence to support a variety of family law cases.
- Oversee discovery: Manage the discovery process, including document production and other critical case functions.
- Consult and communicate: Conduct remote client meetings (via video or phone) to provide legal advice, develop strategies, and set expectations.
- Facilitate negotiations: Assist in reaching settlements and agreements that align with client goals, without litigating in court.
- Manage caseloads: Keep cases moving forward efficiently through strong organizational and time-management practices.
What We’re Looking For:
- Minimum of 3 years of family law experience, including handling matters like divorce, custody, and spousal support.
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school. Active bar admission is required, with a commitment to becoming barred in Maryland within 12 months of joining the firm.
- Outstanding writing, research, negotiation, and communication skills, paired with exceptional attention to detail and organization.
- A professional who excels in consultative roles, enjoys crafting legal strategies, and values a collaborative, client-focused approach.
