JOB SUMMARY:
Under the direct supervision of the supervisor or shift supervisor, the hostess is
to courteously and professionally provide service to customers during the everyday operation of the designated area for which they are assigned. While interacting with other personnel and the work environment they shall cooperate and coordinate work activities to ensure a
smoothly running establishment. The hostess shall also work to provide a safe, clean, and
comfortable work environment, as well as, customer service oriented business atmosphere.
PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS:
Must demonstrate knowledge and adhere to policies and guidelines in such areas as hygiene, dress code, food safety, sanitation, equipment maintenance, storage, product rotation, portion control, and correct cleaning procedures. May need to attend in-service training sessions to keep abreast of current knowledge in the field.
EMPLOYMENT VARIABLES:
Duty sheet responsibilities, as per shift assignment. Other duties as assigned.
INTERAREA:
Communicates with the ownership, supervisors & other employees on matters of concern.
SPECIAL DEMANDS:
Must have a genuine interest in working with people (ie. co-workers and the public) and the
hospitality industry (ie. customer service oriented) and believe and uphold the philosophy of the business.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must have the ability to read and write clearly, follow oral and written instructions. Must be willing to be cross trained, must have pleasant manner, and work as a member of a team.
PHYISCAL DEMANDS:
Walks short distances, may stand for long periods of time, as well as stooping for, lifting
and moving equipment and food.
PERSONAL APPEARANCE AND HYGIENE:
A clean uniform as approved by the restaurant, (ie. 1880’s attire, see handbook for specifics; Busser/runner - clean work shirt, well fit pants, closed toed shoes; - host - may dress western professional). Baths must be taken daily, and deodorant used to eliminate offensive body orders. Hose and/or other undergarments are to be of a color that will not be noticeably different from the color or texture of the uniform. Hair must be pulled up or cut in a way as not to flow freely or be in the face.
