The State of New Hampshire, Department of Health and Human Services and New Hampshire Hospital has a Full-Time opening for a pharmacist.

Summary: Dispenses medications and medical supplies and provides responsible professional work in the compounding, receipt and storage of medicinal and other pharmaceutical supplies. Oversees the efficient operation of the New Hampshire Hospital Pharmacy.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree from a college of pharmacy or department of a university accredited by the American Council on Pharmaceutical Education.

Experience : Five years’ experience as a pharmacist, preferably in a hospital or institutional setting.

License/Certification: Licensure by the New Hampshire Board of Pharmacy and Practical Chemistry.

YOUR EXPERIENCE COUNTS

Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience and/or each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education.

Responsibilities:

• Interprets prescriptions and fills, compounds, and dispenses medication determining pharmaceutical chemical, physical or physiological incompatibilities.
• Review and evaluate patient’s medication and provide recommendations to the professional staff in written and verbal communications.
• Provides continuing education and teaching services to hospital staff.
• Maintain and track inventory of medication and pharmaceutical supplies.
• Provides direction to Pharmacy Technicians.
• Provides direction and consultation with unit team members.
• Compiles, analyzes, and interprets data for quality assurance projects.
• Provides medical literature and counseling to patients and family members before visits and upon discharge.
• Participates on various professional committees at New Hampshire Hospital. Participates on a rotating on call schedule.
