Summary Description
The Porter is responsible for ensuring the cleanliness, safety, and overall upkeep of the facility. This role supports the facilities department by performing routine tasks such as cleaning common areas, removing trash, assisting with minor repairs, and maintaining equipment. The porter also monitors the property for safety hazards and reports any issues to the facilities team for resolution.
Duties and Responsibilities
General Cleaning and Upkeep:
- Open and close umbrellas around campus
- Clean outside tables, straighten up outside dining chairs
- Check the entire campus to see if paper towels, toilet paper, hand sanitizer, and soap need to be filled. (Check Regularly)
- Ensure the dining hall has clean towels and disinfectant spray
- Empty trash from garbage cans inside and outside, ensuring proper disposal
- Clean trash, compost, recycle bin
- Wipe down upstairs railing
- Clean all cobwebs in corners of hallways
- Dust on top of lockers
- Walk around Campus picking up trash with grabber and bucket
Support for Facilities:
- Check eSpace for work orders
- Assist with minor repairs such as changing light bulbs, fixing or putting together furniture
- Report major maintenance issues or safety hazards to the facilities manager
- Maintain tools and equipment in good working order
Safety and Security:
- Conduct routine inspections to identify safety concerns (e.g., broken handrails, slippery floors)
Other Duties as Assigned:
- Respond promptly to urgent maintenance or cleaning requests
- Provide general assistance to teachers, staff, and administrators as needed
- Any other duties needed to help drive to our Vision, fulfill our Mission, and abide by our Organization’s Values.
Qualification & Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Driver’s License
- Work Hours Tuesday - Saturday 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM
- Ability to climb and work from ladders, man hoists or lifts and ability to repeatedly lift and carry heavy loads (up to 50lbs.)
- Ability to communicate effectively (written and oral communication)
- Ability to identify and communicate situations/problems to Management
- Ability and willingness to work well independently and with others.
- Ability and desire to learn
- Ability to work with limited supervision in a team environment
- Ability to comply with Company policy, procedures and Code of Conduct.
- Knowledge of safe hand and power tool usage
- Strong attention to detail and time management
- Familiarity with cleaning equipment and basic maintenance tools
- Flexibility to handle varied tasks
- Flexibility to work weekends, and overtime during school events or emergencies
- Ability to manage and perform work orders to meet customer satisfaction and Company requirements.
- Ability to portray a professional appearance and mannerism.
- Ability to attend required training.
- Ability to work with a computer-based work order management system from a desktop computer and a hand-held device.
- Ability and willingness to work safely in all weather conditions and/or locales.
