Responsible for performing the duties related to the maintenance and upkeep of the Newport and Ione Warehouses and other District facilities. This includes receiving and stocking supplies and equipment (including related recordkeeping), supporting proper inventory levels and maintaining building/yard spaces in a clean, safe, orderly and functional manner.

Essential Functions:

· Periodically review stock inventory and inventory control systems and make recommendations to the Line Construction Superintendent. Initiate changes as required to ensure an orderly, efficient and modern operation.

· Obtain pricing and availability of materials from vendors when assigned.

 

· Create and complete purchase orders and interact with vendors to maintain inventory levels when assigned.

 

· Receive all materials and supplies that have been purchased, checking them against the purchase order and enter receiving records into the computer. Identify requestor of materials and/or equipment and distribute as per directives.

 

· Unload materials and initiate proper storage. Place District identification numbers on special equipment and forward serial, identification numbers, and necessary data to the appropriate department.

 

· Review material requirements for day-to-day operations as well as major projects and obtain information on new types of materials from vendors, and receive guidance, and the necessary approvals from the Line Construction Superintendent for purchase. Return unused or retired materials to stock.

 

· Issue materials to line crews from staking sheets.

 

· Reconcile inventory levels from staking sheet information when returned by field crew.

 

· Arrange for testing and delivery of high voltage rubber gloves and repairing hot sticks & fiberglass tools.

 

· Order hand tools, climbing equipment, battery operated tools, rigging, and other equipment.

 

· Transport overstock material to and from District facilities to maintain an acceptable inventory at the Line Crew Headquarters.

 

· Assist with annual physical inventory at warehouse locations.

 

· Maintain warehouse and warehouse yard in a neat and orderly manner keeping stock, inventory, and records up to date.

 

· Test PCB materials in accordance with federal and state standards and District policies. Work with Engineering and Safety departments to coordinate such activity. Maintain working knowledge of PCB procedures and assure records are properly maintained and materials are properly handled.

 

· In accordance with District policies obtain qualified contractors to complete both capital and maintenance projects, including, but not limited to, water, sewer, power, lighting, civil, fence, heating and cooling, extra snow removal, windows, and repairs etc when assigned.

 

· Work with linemen, telecommunications technicians, and/or other individuals as assigned and provide support for other departments as required.

 

· Responsible for minor and basic plumbing, electrical, and structural repairs of District facilities.

 

· Responsible for lawn maintenance, leaf removal, snow removal, sanding/de-icing and similar maintenance activities on District properties.

 

· Prepare and package equipment as necessary for mailing and/or shipping.

 

· Coordinate the sale/disposal of surplus items, per District policies, including proper documentation.

 

· Assist and train custodians. Order and maintain stock of all cleaning and sanitary items.

 

· Work with “Small Works” contractors on projects concerning District facilities.

Requirements

Skills & Abilities

· Must be able to recognize and differentiate between various line maintenance materials.

· Able to apply logical thinking to diagnose and solve practical problems and to comprehend and effectively carry out instructions.

· Basic math skills including decimals, fractions, and measurements.

· Able to read and comprehend relevant instruction manuals, construction drawings, electrical diagrams and maps.

· Able to properly prepare required forms and reports.

· Able to communicate clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing.

· Ability to use independent and discretionary judgment; manage confidential information.

Education, Experience, & Training Required

· High school diploma or equivalent

· Two (2) years’ experience in a warehouse, shipping, or shop maintenance environment

Other requirements

Valid driver license

CDL Endorsement Class A, preferred

Current CPR/First Aid Card

Post-offer drug test, may be required

Post-offer background check

Forklift Certification

Physical Requirements

· Most working time is physical in nature or standing/walking primarily in a warehouse environment. Occasional trips to other District work sites and other locations for project work, meetings, training, etc.

· Frequent use of a computer and exposure to terminal screens.

· Frequent repetitive hand/wrist motions and finger manipulation.

· Able to exert in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

· Able to access shelving that is several feet high and place or remove items that may be in excess of 20 pounds.

· Able to work in extreme weather conditions including high winds, hot and cold temperatures, rainy and snowy conditions.

· Corrected visual acuity must be sufficient to meet the essential functions of the position.

· Corrected hearing must be 75% of the normal range with not less than 90 % speech discrimination at the time of initial hire.

· There is occasional exposure to hazards or risk of injury that are primarily protected against or predictable.

· Typically requires use of one of more senses of medium intensity and long duration.

· Ability to perform under stress when confronted with emergency, critical, unusual or dangerous situations, or in situations when sustained attention is a critical aspect of the job.

· Must be able to wear appropriate PPE for task at hand.

This is a union position with starting hourly rate of $26.75.
