Duties & Responsibilities: Overview: As a Chef working with our agency, you will be an essential part of our mission to deliver exceptional dining experiences for residents in care homes. Key Responsibilities: * Manage day-to-day Culinary Operations for a Care Home:
- Oversee and coordinate kitchen activities to ensure efficient and smooth day-to-day operations.
- Lead and manage the culinary team to deliver high-quality meals for care home residents.
Execution of Daily Food Service with a Focus on Dietary Needs:
- Ensure the execution of daily food service aligns with dietary requirements and preferences of care home residents.
- Monitor food quality, portion control, and presentation to meet specific dietary needs.
Support Management in Menu Planning and Innovation for Care Home Residents:
- Collaborate with care home management to propose menus that cater to the nutritional needs and preferences of residents.
- Innovate and update menus periodically to enhance resident dining experiences.
Estimate Food Consumption and Manage Requisitions:
- Estimate food consumption based on resident population and manage requisitions accordingly.
- Work closely with suppliers to ensure timely and quality food purchases.
Standardize Production Recipes for Consistent Quality:
- Develop and maintain standardized production recipes to ensure consistent quality and nutritional standards.
Collaborate on Expense Tracking for Financial Projections:
- Collaborate with General Managers on expense tracking to contribute to accurate financial projections.
- Ensure cost-efficient practices while maintaining high-quality standards.
Enforce Sanitation, Maintenance, and Safety Standards:
- Implement and oversee adherence to sanitation, maintenance, and safety standards in compliance with care home regulations.
Train and Manage Kitchen Personnel for Care Home Environment:
- Provide training to kitchen personnel on catering to the unique needs of a care home environment.
- Supervise all culinary activities with a focus on creating a comfortable dining experience for residents.
Qualifications:
- At least 5 years of experience in a similar capacity, preferably in a care home setting.
- Ability to manage in a diverse environment with a strong focus on client and customer services.
- Effective communication skills with care home managers, kitchen personnel, and residents.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Physical ability to reach, bend, stoop, and lift up to 50 pounds.
- Comfortable working in a standing position for extended periods.
- Full day availability with a flexible schedule; expected to work 50 - 65 hours per week.
- Serve-Safe Certificate is required.
- Computer skills in Word and Excel are a plus.
