As the Manager of Corporate Tax, you will play a key role in ensuring the accurate completion and timely submission of tax filings and reports for various regulatory agencies, including the IRS, SEC, and local state authorities. You will work closely with both the taxation team and senior leadership, developing clear guidance and templates to streamline processes and ensure compliance. Your ability to analyze trends and data will help identify opportunities for improvement, ensuring the integrity of all tax-related reporting.
Key Responsibilities
Tax Compliance
Oversee corporate tax compliance, ensuring all filings are accurate and submitted on time. Reconcile filings with internal records, reviewing tax computations for accuracy. Stay informed on new tax legislation and ensure these changes are reflected in financial statements, including updates on corporate tax rates and credits. Manage income and non-income tax accruals, ensuring accurate and timely tax payments and reconciliations. Track and respond to IRS and other jurisdictional audits, ensuring positions are accounted for. Adhere to SOX 404 internal controls, maintaining strong compliance standards. Data Analysis
Prepare and analyze fluctuation reports for tax data, providing clear explanations for any discrepancies. Share relevant data and insights with key stakeholders, ensuring effective communication across departments. Review and analyze memorandums on pertinent tax issues to inform strategic decision-making. Tax Planning and Forecasting
Support the 10-year planning and forecasting process, ensuring tax implications are considered in long-term strategies. Stay up to date on new tax laws and opportunities, offering recommendations for strategic improvements. Assist in the transformation of the tax department, including the implementation of new software systems. Leadership
Supervise and mentor a team of tax professionals, providing guidance and fostering professional development. Enforce compliance standards within the team and ensure all team members adhere to relevant policies and regulations. Perform additional duties as needed, contributing to the department's overall success. Qualifications and Requirements
Legal Work Authorization: Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship. Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation required; additional certifications are a plus. Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in accounting, with expertise in federal and state tax law and compliance. Proven experience in submitting tax filings for the IRS, SEC, state authorities, and other agencies (PUCN, FERC). Extensive experience in corporate tax reporting and SOX 404 compliance. Strong background in leading teams, including managing and mentoring professionals. Technical Skills: In-depth knowledge of corporate tax compliance, including filings and reconciliations. Familiarity with software system transformations within the taxation department. Ability to analyze tax data, prepare forecasts, and identify key trends. Leadership and Communication: Strong leadership and mentoring skills, with a track record of guiding teams toward success. Excellent communication skills, able to convey complex tax data to senior leadership and stakeholders effectively. Language Proficiency: Fluent in English (additional language skills are a plus).
