Their Voice Rescue, a 501(c)3 nonprofit, is looking to hire for the full-time position of Rescue Manager. We are headquartered in Delaplane, VA on a beautiful 50-acre sanctuary.

Our mission at Their Voice is to save as many dogs as possible from kill shelters nationwide and place them in forever homes. We network with other shelters and rescue efforts to bring dogs into our rescue. Additionally, we aim to bring awareness to and advance the efforts of, ending the Dog Meat Festivals and other acts of animal slaughter/cruelty stateside and around the world. The Rescue Manager will work closely with the Medical Caregiver and Head Caregiver to ensure that each dog"s medical and emotional needs are met. The Rescue Manager will also communicate directly with human resources in regard to staff and the president of the organization about operations and dog and staff-related topics and updates. Staff management, adoption oversight, networking, community outreach, volunteer coordination/training, fundraising, and hands-on daily care of the dogs are all important aspects of the role. Clear, kind, timely, and direct communication is paramount.

Applicants must be aware that some of these dogs have not come from the best of circumstances - they will need more compassion, care, and patience; however, they will return the care they receive with great affection. We request that applicants have sufficient experience in the dog rescue community. Though this is meant to be a warm, welcoming stop on the way to a forever home, we want the dogs to feel as though they are home. We wholeheartedly believe in positive training and reinforcement. It could go unsaid that applicants must love dogs; they must also know, and understand, the hard work that goes into taking care of up to 30 dogs at a time.

Primary Rescue Manager Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Manage and oversee all aspects of on-site operations, including animal care and staff When Medical Caregiver is absent, perform New Intake Evaluation upon arrival of new dogs to TVR. Enter all intake and medical record information into Shelterluv at intake and any takeover other Medical Caregiver responsibilities Oversee and be hands-on managing and working with the team to provide the utmost care and the ability to confidently, yet compassionately and patiently handle dogs who have come from difficult backgrounds Oversee and help the Medical Caregiver as needed (and in their absence) coordinate and transport dogs to veterinary visits. Pay very close attention and get to know every dogs unique personality well, so if theyre acting abnormal, you can pick up on it quickly and act accordingly. If you are not working, make sure the entire team knows what signs to look for as well Overseeing and being conscious of not only the interior kennel environment but also the exterior property where dogs spend lots of time enjoying our yards to ensure the dogs living in the general population are only going out in their several designated yard options. Dogs in ISO have their own designated yard to help eliminate transmitting certain health risk factors, such as parasites and kennel cough Administering medication, treatment, vaccines, and/or medical care on-site as needed and as appropriate when Medical Caregiver is absent Ability and knowledge to perform tests on-site such as Snap 4Dx and fecal tests Placing food orders, medical and animal care-related supply orders Curate weekly staff meetings, focusing on overall dog care, team TVR, updates, and useful information (upcoming changes, reminders/refreshers, pertinent information, etc When Medical Caregiver is absent, enter all medical data (including behavioral) for each dog into Shelterluv and keep it up-to-date and well organized. Continue to enter and maintain all medical records in real-time, ensuring no information is missed or backlogged. Oversee and stay current on dogs" feed, medicine, and supplements Oversee, supervise and assist as needed, feeding schedules of all dogs with extra focus on those with special needs, including but not limited to, medications, special dietary needs, supplements, allergies, and/or sensitivities Stay proactive with frequent assessments of each dog and make any necessary and well-thought-out, lifestyle, daily routine, or environmental routines and changes that can benefit their particular needs (mental health and physical health) and overall well-being Oversee and assist in providing care for dogs that might have significant medical issues, including various contagious diseases, some of which could be zoonotic Oversee and assist as needed with medications to dogs as directed by the veterinarians and assist in training Caregivers to do so as appropriate Train new staff members in collaboration with the Medical Caregiver and Chief Caregiver and work with HR with new hire interviews, such as handling the on-site interview process

General Rescue Manager Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Creating the monthly work schedule for the team, and working with the team on their schedule, while creating a fair schedule for everyone so evening shifts, weekends, and holidays are balanced among the team Assist the team in keeping the exterior and interior kennel facilities and surrounding areas (break room, office ISO, etc) clean and healthy for the dogs and team, which includes exposure to dog excretion, urine, blood, and other bodily fluids; often dogs in our care are not house-trained, so individual kennels might need to be cleaned repeatedly throughout your shift Ensure all dogs have clean, fresh water available to them at all times Making sure all behavioral and health observations are known to each team member and collaborating with the caregiver team to find solutions to issues that might arise Training, walking, field trips, and socializing with the dogs frequently throughout the day in all types of weather Adhering to all training plans implemented by the trainer TVR works with, and any expert behaviorists along with supervision by our vet when medication or medical attention is needed Abiding by TVR"s philosophy of positive training methods at all times Grooming the dogs, including, but not limited to, brushing, bathing, ear cleaning, expressing anal glands, and nail trimming Assisting to ensure that all areas of the kennels and workstations are kept clean, sanitized and organized

Additional Rescue Manager Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Please read carefully and thoroughly Transporting dogs to and from the vet and taking them off-site for fun outings. At this time we do not have a designated rescue vehicle. Ensuring adequate staff coverage at both the events and the sanctuary Overseeing volunteer recruitment Assisting with community outreach and networking Assisting with fundraising events Overseeing off-site adoption events, including planning, coordinating, and ensuring adequate staff coverage

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

Managerial and leadership experience guiding a team in a nonprofit animal rescue or animal shelter with references to validate is required Able to handle the pressure and stress that often comes with leadership roles, while maintaining a positive attitude Excellent organization skills, with references to validate Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks under pressure and compassion fatigue Bachelors or Associate degree or equivalent from an accredited college or technical school At least five (5) years of experience working at an animal rescue or shelter Valid Driver"s License and reliable transportation Proficient with software such as; ShelterLuv, Word, Google Drive, Google Sheets (or similar), and Google Docs.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment:

Please read carefully and thoroughly Work is performed at Their Voice property, which includes areas where dogs live and are cared for, office spaces, stairs, and outdoor locations Subject to dog bites and scratches while handling dogs of questionable temperament Regular bending, reaching, kneeling, sitting on the floor, crouching, and dog walking and the ability to lift up to approximately 50+ pounds or more Work at a computer, and operate electronic equipment Must be able to work a flexible schedule which will include some evening shifts, weekend shifts, and holidays Must be able to tolerate the emotional aspect of work in an animal shelter environment Potential for exposure to animal feces, blood, and zoonotic diseases

What We Offer:

Rescue Manager: Starting salary is dependent upon experience level and qualifications: $35,000-$45,000 annually

Two weeks (14 days) PTO Three (3) sick days $150 monthly stipend Ability to make an impact in the communities we serve On-site housing available
