About this Opportunity

Rockford Construction is seeking an experienced Controller to oversee all accounting and financial activities for our organization. The Controller will be responsible for creating reliable financial reports, conducting audits, and ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations. This pivotal role will involve leading a team of accounting professionals and collaborating closely with senior management to support Rockford’s financial strategy and business objectives.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Oversee all financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
• Prepare and present financial reports to management.
• Manage the accounting team, ensuring timely and accurate closure of monthly financial statements.
• Implement and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard company assets.
• Coordinate and manage audits, ensuring compliance with regulations and best practices.
• Evaluate the company’s financial performance and provide insights for strategic decision-making.
• Ensure compliance with relevant tax regulations and oversee tax planning and reporting.
• Monitor cash flow and oversee financing activities.
• Serve as a financial advisor to senior management and provide guidance on financial implications of business decisions.
• Stay updated on financial regulations, trends, and technology advancements.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or a related field; CPA or CMA preferred.
• At least 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience, with a minimum of 3 years in a managerial role.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and financial regulations.
• Proven experience in managing financial reporting, budgeting, and audits.
• Exceptional leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop staff.
• Superior analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Strong proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
• Experience in the construction industry is a plus.

Environmental Factors

The work environment for this position is a typical office environment in which physical demands require the ability to sit for long periods of time. Intermittent movement will be necessary to perform requirements of the position such as accessing centrally located office equipment.
