The Opportunity

This role will be a field-based Craft Recruite r. In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Support industrial construction projects
  • Craft recruit for multiple disciplines such as electrical, piping, mechanical, operators, solar installers, etc.
  • Drive the hiring process to ensure that open positions are filled as quickly as possible with the best talent available
  • Be responsible for providing staffing services to local or regional office hiring managers as assigned
  • Be involved in recruiting efforts including sourcing, screening, interviewing, and hiring.
  • Assess needs in recruitment and compensation adjustments
  • Adhere to all federal, state, and local laws governing employment process

The Team

Black & Veatch’s Business Enablement consists of critical groups that help enable the organizations people, projects, and businesses to be as successful as possible. Functions in this group include Digital & Information Technology, Global Finance, Global Human Resources, Legal, Risk Management, and Government Affairs and Real Estate and Building Services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinates the applicant process, including scheduling interviews, ensuring client requirements are met, and creating related correspondence
  • Maintains data in applicant tracking system. Enters requisition information and applicant data.
  • Assists with employment related investigations, to include taking statements, conducting interviews, and making recommendations to management
  • General administrative duties include telephone coverage, mail preparation, internet usage, human resource information system reports, memos, researching and obtaining documentation
  • Conducting orientations and accurately processing company, state, and federal new hire, rehire, and transfer paperwork
  • Managing the company’s progressive disciplinary process in a fair manner onsite
  • Monitoring and managing HR compliance programs onsite
  • Develops internal and external relationships with candidates and hiring managers
  • May be responsible for generating ad hoc reports, or assigned special projects as required
  • May have responsibility for coordinating and scheduling special activities such as reduction-in-force, job fairs, benefits open enrollment, drug testing, contingent workers, site events, or intern/co-op events
  • May have responsibility for ordering recruiting materials

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years progressive recruiting experience
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) highly desired
  • Bachelor’s degree in HR or related field; PHR/SPHR Certification preferred
  • Interviewing, Employment Law, EEO/AAP and Problem Solving/Conflict Management
  • Experience in high-volume craft construction recruiting
  • Basic knowledge of human resource information system
  • Basic knowledge of resume tracking system
  • Basic knowledge of hiring policies and procedures
  • Exposure to the HR side of Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) projects
  • Strong skills using Microsoft’s suite of products
  • Strong multi-tasking skills
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to travel and work on construction sites in the United States

Minimum Qualifications

All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following:

  • criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.

Work Environment/Physical Demands

Normal office environment with a hybrid work schedule: 3 days in office and 2 days remote
