The warehouse offers a wide selection of HVAC products available on demand, including grilles, registers, diffusers, terminal units, variable frequency drives, motor starters, vibration isolation, flexible duct, spiral pipe and fittings, low-pressure pipe and fittings, curbs and equipment supports, pipe portal assemblies, manual balance valves, access doors, in-line, ceiling, and roof fans, gravity ventilators, fire dampers, installation hardware, duct sealer, tape, screws, and flexible pump connectors. Customers can shop these stock products online and choose to pick up their orders in Troy or have them shipped directly to their job sites.

What the Role Entails

The Estimator will be responsible for reviewing plans and specifications, generating take-offs using on-screen software, and utilizing manufacturer selection and pricing tools to produce accurate quotations. They will work closely with both internal teams and MAP customers, maintaining strong communication and providing expert guidance. The Estimator will stay up to date with HVAC product advancements, adhere to MAP’s standards, and ensure all documentation is accurately handled and stored. This is a role for a motivated individual who thrives in a team-oriented environment and is committed to continuous learning and improvement.

Performance Objectives:

90-Day Objectives

• Learning & Integration: The Estimator will familiarize themselves with Michigan Air Products (MAP), including the company's culture, values, and internal processes. They will begin reviewing key systems such as RepEdge and manufacturer selection and pricing software. They will also learn to use the on-screen takeoff software and MAP's standard pricing spreadsheets and quotation documents.
• Collaboration: The Estimator will start collaborating with the sales and estimator teams, establishing strong communication with both internal teams and customers, particularly contractor estimating departments.
• Training & Development: They will complete web-based, local, and manufacturer-specific training programs to gain knowledge of HVAC product applications, technical aspects, and advancements.

180-Day Objectives

• Active Participation: The Estimator will start producing detailed and accurate quotations for customers, ensuring they are delivered ahead of bid due dates. They will take full responsibility for handling the Estimating email account and ensure a quick and efficient response to inquiries.
• Process Adherence: The Estimator will ensure all documents are stored according to MAP Estimating standards, actively using RepEdge and adhering to standard processes and documentation.

365-Day Objectives

• Operational Excellence: By the end of 365 days, the Estimator will independently manage estimating tasks, producing accurate quotations, and communicating effectively with MAP employees and customers. They will maintain excellent time management, meet all deadlines, and prioritize tasks.
• Continuous Improvement: They will contribute ideas for continuous improvement, providing feedback on the current processes. They will also stay up to date with product knowledge, attending necessary training programs and working on their technical skills.
