Red Hook Tavern is looking for a Host
We are looking for a wonderful host to join our team. The host is typically the first person a guest meets at the tavern, setting the tone for the entire experience. All host candidtes should be posses a warm personality and strong communication skills. An interest in the food and beverage industry is required, and staying up to date with NYC restaurant news is a plus.
Weekend availability is a must.
Responsibilities:
- Greet guests as they enter, putting them on a waiting list as necessary.
- Provide guests with link to menus and answering any initial questions.
- Graciously seat guests while keeping table rotation in mind.
- Engage with guests upon departure to complete the dining experience.
- Efficiently run the floor plan, perfectly coordinating reservations and the waitlist.
- Take guest information and quote wait times accurately when tables are not immediately available.
- Be observant to the needs of guests and fellow team members.
- Help dining room staff by setting and clearing tables; replenishing water; serving beverages.
- Remain up to date on all food menu items and changes.
- Stay informed about all the items on our by the glass list (wines, beers, cocktails).
- Have basic understanding of classic cocktails and taking drink orders.
Requirements:
- Able to provide excellent customer service and maintain grace under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Organized
- Punctual
- Able to stand for 8 hours at a time
- Friendly personality
- Problem solving skills
- Attention to detail
- Interest in learning more about food, wine and cocktails
- Excellent communiction skills
- A desire to help out where needed and work as part of a team
