Pastry Cook

Mindy's Bakery, by James-Beard Award Winning Chef and Owner of Mindy's Edibles, Mindy Segal, is looking for an experienced Pastry Cook to join its team! We are located in the heart of Wicker Park, right off Milwaukee and Damen.

The ideal candidate will have a positive attitude, strong work ethic, pastry production experience (including but not limited to: making doughs, laminating, and baking), and a keen eye for detail. Job Responsibilities & Expectations: + Set up & break down of your station + Follow & execute proprietary recipes, both from our recipe book as well as verbal instructions + Complete tasks on prep list in a timely and efficient manner  + Receive, understand, and learn from constructive criticism  + Knowledge of our menu - including all rotating specials, beverages, preparation techniques, main ingredients, and allergen information + Follow all safety & sanitation guidelines  + Follow all checklists that pertain to opening and closing, and feel confident performing all the tasks associated with both  + Maintain a presentable appearance and adhere to our dress code + Maintain appearance and cleanliness of the bakery - keeping counters, displays, tables and floors clean and presentable at all times

Requirements & Qualifications: + Minimum 2 years experience in Pastry Prep/Production 

+ Strong communication skills + Strong priortization skills  + Organization skills  + Ability to excel in a team setting + A valid Food Handler's Certificate + Ability to stand for the duration of a shift + Ability to work early mornings (as early as 4 AM)

Compensation & Benefits: + Salary (negotiable based on experience, starting at $800/week or $20/hr), plus pooled tips, which are added to the last paycheck of each month + Weekly pay (every Friday) + PTO + Subsidized health insurance + We always feed you

Schedule: This position is FULL TIME (5 days per week), and requires weekend and holiday availability. 

Our bakery is open Wednesday through Sunday -- 7:30am to 3pm during the week, and 8am to 3pm on Saturday and Sunday. However, we have staff working and prepping daily. This position requires early morning and afternoon availability.
