Department Chair, Information Technology and Cybersecurity

As a member of the Excelsior School of Technology leadership abilities team, the Chair coordinates departmental activity with the activities of other units in the University. As a change leader, the Chair works in collaboration with other members of the administration to drive student success and assists in the development and implementation of School and College initiatives across multiple modalities. As a member of the faculty, this function has teaching responsibilities commensurate with the scale and scope of the size of the department. Reporting to the Associate Dean of the School of Technology, this job offer is located out of the university’s home office in Albany, NY with the option of considering remote candidates. Remote employees will have mandatory occasional travel for meetings, conferences, and professional development opportunities. Remote employees are expected to be available during work hours 8:30am – 5:00pm Eastern time. The University will supply necessary equipment to execute the essential functions of this job (e.g., laptop, docking station). Employees are responsible for having a workspace where they can participate in virtual meetings without multiple interruptions and noise. tasks and Responsibilities:  Department leadership abilities and Administration »Work with faculty, staff and students within the department to establish and maintain strategic and operational project plans and budgets that are consistent with the college and university goals. »Coordinate and monitor program pathways and course schedules to ensure program and student success. Department Curriculum »Manage course registrations and instructor assignments in conformity with university-set benchmarks and quality metrics. »Recruit, appoint, evaluate, and supervise performance of faculty. »Support and supervise the overall development of the faculty within department. Faculty Responsibilities »Has teaching responsibilities within university-established workload model. »Maintain a scholarly agenda in alignment with university and college and strategic priorities. »Engage department faculty in university and community service activities as appropriate. Qualifications required to execute this job prosperously, an individual must be able to execute each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to execute the essential functions. »An earned doctorate in IT, cybersecurity, technology or related field, or an earned doctorate with at least 18 credit hours in related IT, cybersecurity, technology, or related field. » Minimum of seven years teaching practice. » Five to seven years of progressive administrative practice, with consistent evidence of exemplary performance. » Strong track record of promoting student success using evidence-located decision-making to support the quality improvement of academic programs, curriculum, and faculty. » Demonstrated practice with the recruitment, selection, evaluation, development, and mentoring of faculty. » practice with program and student learning results assessment, as well as program and institutional accreditation processes and procedures. » practice with supporting the coordination, preparation and maintenance of a budget in an academic environment preferred. » Demonstrate skill in knowledge cultural differences and a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. practice working with individuals from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds. » Strong track record of working collaboratively and collegially with faculty across disciplines to support high quality standards. » Excellent communication expertise, comfort with timelines, dates and deliverables are a must. » practice teaching in an online environment and practice in online education academic administration desired. The hiring income range for this job offer is $86,000.00 - $110,000.00.  The hiring income range above represents the University's good faith estimate at the time of posting.
