Electronic Resources Management Librarian
Excelsior University is seeking an Electronic Resources Management Librarian (ERML). The ERML is flexible and comfortable in an innovative environment that is focused on continuous improvement. QUALIFICATIONS »Master’s degree required in Library and Information Science or Knowledge Management from an ALA-accredited school. »Previous practice required: Minimum of 3 years of practice in an academic library in one or more of the following areas? acquisitions, cataloging, electronic resource maintenance, and support »Proven knowledge and practice with standard library license requirements, terms of service, and accessibility requirements. »Familiarity and /or practice using technology, software, and publishing platforms. May include: EZproxy, Springshare, Pressbooks, and LibreText among others. »Working knowledge of integrated library systems including open URL resolvers, statistical and fund maintenance, proxy servers, reporting functions, and the structure and management of online catalogs. »Proficiency with EBSCO suite of tools preferred. »Proficiency in open access and the different types of article processing charges. »Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Excel. »Detailed knowledge of current models, practices, and tools used by academic libraries for acquisition and management of electronic resources. »Foster strong working relationships with colleagues within the university and others in other academic libraries »Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred tasks AND RESPONSIBILITIES »Works closely with the Scholarly Communications Librarian to promote alternative scholarly communication models and transformational strategies for a sustainable collections budget. • Coordinates with the Library Director to monitor the acquisitions budget. • supervises the acquisition process of electronic resources through the establishment of product trials, license review, and procurement. • Activates new and manages existing electronic resources in the discovery platform of the University library’s management system. • supervises the management of licensed databases and electronic resources including journal article packages, electronic book collections, and individual electronic journal and electronic book titles. • Responsible for the registration and activation of electronic resource subscriptions. • Maintains timely and accurate metadata about the library’s resources and performs URL maintenance. • Maintains accurate information on licensed databases through systematic review and updates. • Updates holdings in the integrated library system or library services platform as needed to maintain access to resources from digital libraries. • Troubleshoots electronic resource access issues and works with vendors to resolve technical issues. • Collaborates with the library team to support the acquisition of eBooks and other electronic resources to support OER/textbook affordcapability activities. • Promotes and improves resource access by updating, customizing, and integrating interfaces for digital resource accessibility and discovery. • supervises the maintenance of active links to electronic serials, books, and databases in the online catalog to provide seamless access to electronic resources for end-users. • Analyzes and interprets electronic resource usage statistics, such as COUNTER reports and turnaways, in support of stakeholder needs and the library’s strategic mission. Applies usage statistics and other assessment data to identify needs, evaluate current and potential licenses and to support renewals, alternative access options, and withdrawals. • Makes recommendations to the Library Director regarding the renewal or cancellation of electronic resources located on statistical analysis of usage. • Uses vendor-supplied reports to develop trend analyses of electronic resource usage for data-driven decision-making. • Conducts overlap analysis of electronic resources to minimize duplication of content. • Monitors trends in electronic resource management, analyzing tools and workflows, exploring new models and makes recommendations to change existing tools and workflows. • Continues intellectual and professional growth through involvement in professional associations significant to the demands of the position. • contact with an educational focus area at the university. • Provides reference services. • Actively supports the Excelsior University commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace. • Performs other tasks as assigned to ensure smooth operations of the library. • Possess professional written and oral communication expertise. • Excellent organizational, time-management, and analytical expertise. • Strong work ethic and commitment to excellent service »Outstanding negotiation expertise. » • Adept at mastering emergent technologies.
