Recruiting Solutions is seeking a Process Technician for a privately held family-owned company in the Cowpens, SC area . The Process Technician is responsible for developing, monitoring, and optimizing critical process parameters and conducting process-related training for operators. Serving as the primary contact for resolving issues with process performance or equipment, the Process Technician collaborates closely with mold, machine maintenance, second operation teams, and quality departments to ensure prompt and efficient service. Process Technician General Responsibilities:
- Adhere to safety protocols to ensure a safe work environment.
- Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), including adherence to dress code and hygiene standards.
- Report food safety concerns to the appropriate manager or supervisor.
- Perform housekeeping duties throughout the shift.
- Manage material supplies for machines and oversee packaging, labeling, and storage of Work In Progress (WIP) and finished goods.
- Stretch wrap and store products and dispose of scrap properly.
- Capable of lifting 35 pounds unassisted and standing/walking for the duration of the shift.
- Develop and support Continuous Improvement Programs and initiate corrective actions for non-conformances.
- Identify and report opportunities for improvement using the See It, Sort It, Report It system.
- Wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required.
- Adapt to new tasks and changing customer demands as needed.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Process Engineer.
Process Technician Responsibilities:
- Operate injection molding machines, vision systems, downstream equipment, and material feed systems.
- Assist with the startup of new equipment by developing process parameters and implementing operator training plans.
- Monitor and adjust critical process parameters, conduct scheduled process and equipment audits.
- Establish and maintain optimum alarm parameters around baseline processes.
- Lead advanced process analysis to identify improvements for cost savings, part quality enhancement, and KPI improvement.
- Conduct process-related training for operators and handle sample requests focused on root cause analysis.
- Participate in mold and product design reviews as needed.
- Audit box counts and vision systems to ensure equipment functionality.
- Maintain process databases and document process changes.
- Troubleshoot issues related to process, machine, mold, and materials.
- Evaluate processes with downed cavities or off-cycle times.
- Support new mold process development and startup activities, both in-house and with mold builders.
- Collaborate with mold, machine maintenance, second operation teams, and quality departments.
- Liaise with external suppliers, machine manufacturers, and management.
Required Skills:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in math for process parameter conversions.
- Computer literate with effective organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Advanced knowledge of injection molding, troubleshooting, and resin behavior.
- Strong problem-solving skills focused on root cause analysis.
- Basic understanding of hydraulic, electric, pneumatic, and vision systems.
- Effective time management and organizational skills.
Required Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience with injection mold processing and secondary equipment.
- Experience with high cavitation tooling and troubleshooting preferred.
- Experience with process design and mold qualifications preferred.
- Formal training in plastic processes, such as scientific molding or Paulson, preferred.
- Familiarity with ISO or similar quality systems and SQF or similar food safety systems preferred.
Education:
- High school diploma required.
- Degree or technical certification preferred.
