FoodChain ID is developing the first of its kind comprehensive and integrated Food Technology platform in the industry. We aim to digitalize the process of food safety compliance, certification, and food-related data services in an end-to-end unified, seamless, and frictionless process. This platform enables our customers to make complex decisions regarding food safety, new product development, managing food supply chains, and managing regulatory and label compliance with high speed and accuracy. We use the latest technologies and tools including AI and Machine Learning to provide our customers one-of-a-kind solution.

FoodChain ID offers a broad range of food safety and sustainability certification services such as BRC, SQF, ProTerra, Non-GMO Certification, Bonsucro, RTRS, and Global GAP. FoodChain ID also offers food safety training and consulting. FoodChain ID was established in 1996 as Genetic-ID and is headquartered in Deerfield, Illinois. In addition to the USA, we have offices in the UK, France, Germany, India, Italy, Belgium, the Netherlands, Romania, Thailand, Mexico, and Brazil where we serve more than 30,000 customers in over 100 countries.  FoodChain ID is owned by Berkshire Partners ( Technical Evaluator Position Summary FoodChain ID is a Technical Administrator of the Non-GMO Project’s (NGP) Product Verification Program (PVP), ensuring that products are compliant with the NGP Standard. The Technical Evaluator position requires conducting document-based review of food and other consumer products, which are submitted by farmers, processors and brand owners for verification of conformity to the NGP Standard. The technical review process conducted by an Evaluator determines if a product is eligible to display the ‘Non-GMO Project Verified’ Seal. Aligns and executes in all areas, FoodChain ID’s mission and vision.  This position is 100% remote and based in the United States. 

Responsibilities    Responsible for completing high-level technical reviews and making technical decisions regarding requirements and evaluations supporting certification and/or verification services.  
  • Learn the requirements of the assigned Programs offered by Technical Services and conduct a technical evaluation to determine if products, ingredients, facilities, and other items meet the Program requirements. 
  • Meet key performance indicators for core, high-volume standardized reviews while maintaining high-quality standards.  
  • Grant verification/certification decisions by confirming all the technical evidence supports the compliance requirements of the scheme. 
  • Maintain open communication with the Operational Manager and Team Leads to identify technical/quality issues or trends and provide recommendations for process improvements. 
  • Provide expert guidance and assistance for making the certification/evaluation process fast, easy, and a wonderful experience for our customers. 
  • Support technical training for new evaluators and evaluators who are progressing in training and writing training documents and internal SOPs as needed. 
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities in assigned areas. 
  • Fulfill other administrative duties, including active participation in team meetings and training sessions, participation in creating and improving workflow efficiencies, and special projects as assigned by the Operations Manager. 
  • Contribute to a positive culture of the organization through open communication and always support achieving the goal of the Evaluators Team, Technical Services, and FCID. 
Required Qualification and Skills:  
  • Bachelor’s degree in Science or related disciplines (or equivalent). 
  • At least three (3) years of experience in Food or Agriculture, e.g., food science, food processing, agricultural engineering, nutritional science, chemistry, biochemistry, biology, horticulture, or biotechnology.  
  • Ideally, some knowledge or practical experience in food/agricultural safety, food regulation/certification/policy, along with experience in project coordination within the farm, food, seed, cosmetic, packaging, supplement/vitamin textile, or similar industries. 
  • Exemplary (English) written and verbal communication skills 
  • High level of technical aptitude. 
  • Highly detail-oriented and well-organized. 
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and the Internet. 
  • Ability to master technical data and information. 
  • Ability to follow through on assignments remotely under supervision. 
  • Excellent time management, organizational skills, and attention to detail. 
Preferred Qualifications:  
  • Degree in Food Science.
  • Food Auditor certification. 
  • Experience as a Technical Reviewer with the Certification Programs. 
Physical Demand:  
  • Required to sit for long periods in front of the computer.
