The West Angeles Church of God in Christ (COGIC) in Los Angeles, California, is seeking a Director of Finance to lead the functions of the Finance Department, including payroll, general ledger functions, accounts payable/receivable, reports, and financial audits. This hands-on, highly motivational leader will oversee a team of five and the approximate $9 million operating budget of the Church while reporting to the Church's CEO/Senior Pastor. THE DEPARTMENT/THE JOB The Finance Department leads the core financial functions of West Angeles Church, including accounts payable/receivable, payroll, general ledger functions, and reporting and financial audits. This Department is crucial to the success and longevity of the West Angeles Church and has a team-oriented, problem-solving climate focused on delivering quality solutions. The Director plays a pivotal role in assessing and managing ministry-wide financial systems, including infrastructure designs, communications, and special projects. They will oversee four employees and one contractor while reporting to the Church's CEO/Senior Pastor. They will also oversee the work of a CPA firm until the Department can perform these functions independently.
The Director is part of the Church's executive team and is responsible for the organization's current and future financial health and will oversee the current $9 million complex budget, including grants and a variety of weekly and monthly funding streams. The Director has a deep understanding of accounting functions and will be an excellent leader, identifying opportunities to encourage, engage, and develop staff, and ensure financial controls are functioning well. They will oversee all accounting, payroll, and reporting systems, managing day-to-day operations, and providing recommendations for streamlining processes, and improvements to technology and other systems. They will prepare financial statements, regularly work with executive leadership and the board, and conduct financial planning, forecasting, budgeting, regulatory compliance, and grants management. They will culture banking and business relationships, and set department and staff goals.
SALARY & BENEFITS: An annual salary of $110,000 - $150,000 DOE/DOQ, plus a generous benefits package.
